The Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife, may have finally drawn the curtain on the sex-for-marks scandal which rocked the university for months.
On Wednesday, the university sacked Professor Richard Akindele, the Professor of Management and Accounting at the university who was at the centre of the scandal.
Akindele was initially suspended after the university probed an audio showing that he demanded five rounds of sex from an MBA student, Monica Osagie, to upgrade her mark.
After her initial reluctance, Osagie had appeared before the panel to substantiate her claim.
Announcing the sacking on Wednesday at a press conference in Ile-Ife, Eyitope Ogunbodede, Vice Chancellor of OAU, said the Governing Council of the institution found Akindele “guilty of all the charges against him”.
With his sack, will the professor be entitled to any gratuity? Big question indeed!
