Nigeria’s Under-23 Coach, Samson Siasia says he does not know anything about the whereabouts of defender, Musa Muhammed.
Muhammed, captain of Nigeria’s Under-20 side, was called up by Siasia for this weekend’s All Africa Games (AAG) qualifying match away to Zambia.
Media chief of the Nigeria Under-23 side, Timi Ebikagboro, revealed that Muhammed excused himself from the camp, informing the coaches that he was going to pick up his international passport, promising to make a quick return.
“As I speak to you, no one here (Under-23 camp) knows where he (Muhammed) is. It is quite disappointing and the coach is extremely unhappy about the situation,” Ebikagboro told supersport.com.
He, however, added that the Nigeria under-23s would not be affected by Muhammed’s decision to go AWOL.
“We have put it behind us and we are now focusing on our game in Zambia.
“We played a friendly game against Abuja Football College (on Wednesday) and won 3-0. One thing the coaches have been looking to is work on the perceived weakness of failure to score goals.
“The coach always had plans to draft in the Under-20 players into this team because they were always part of the plan.
“Nobody is pressing the panic button. We will win in Zambia and book our ticket for the AAG,” he said.
