SOUTH WEST ZONE OF NSC HOSTS 8TH PRIVATE SECONDARY SCHOOLS BASKETBALL CHAMPIONSHIP

As part of its continuous efforts at developing sports at the grassroots within the South-west sub-region, the National Sports Commission South-west Zone I, Ibadan is hosting the final of Private Secondary School Basketball Championship scheduled to hold from Tuesday 11th March to Friday 14th March 2014.
The competition, which will take place at the indoor sports hall of Obafemi Awolowo Stadium, Ibadan, will involve private Secondary Schools from three states of the zone that is Oyo, Ogun, and Lagos.
The Zonal Coordinator Dr. Steve Olarinoye expressed satisfaction over the progress recorded during the state qualifiers and promised that lots of prizes and trophies had been set aside for winners at the championship.
Also lots of side attractions have been packaged to add glamour to the championship.
He stated further that the following private schools would represent their states at the competition; The International School, University of Ibadan, Marella International School and Nickdel College will represent Oyo state in the male and female categories, while International School Lagos (UNILAG) , Avi-cenna International School Lagos, Soundhope Academy and Doregos Academy and Vivian Fowler school will represent Lagos State in male and female categories.
 Ogun state will be represented by the following private schools in the male and female categories; The International school, Wasimi, Mercyland International School, Abeokuta and Command Secondary School, Abeokuta.
Important dignitaries invited to grace the occasion include- Director General National Sports Commission, Hon. Gbenga Elegbeleye, representative on the board of Basketball, Commissioner of Sports in the zone, General Managers, Directors of Sports and Sports lovers.
