By Bode Akinbode, Ibadan

Founder and spiritual leader of Shafaudeen In Islam worldwide, Ibadan, Prof. Sabit Ariyo Olagoke has charged the Federal Government to bring sponsors of terrorism to face justice for peace to reign in the country

He gave the charge in his lecture titled; “Saving Nigeria From Becoming a Failed State: Our Collective Challenges and Responsibilities” held at the International Headquarters of the organisation to mark the grand finale of its annual Isharat convention.

According to him, sponsors of insurgence and violence need to be brought to book as deterrence, while government must stop toying with the lives of the people by promoting poverty-stricken souls into the economic class with living minimum wages

The Islamic cleric noted that poor management of the insecurity challenges bedeviling the country by the Federal Government is responsible for the ugly and negative image which this administration has carved for itself both locally and internationally.

Olagoke who is also the Ajagun Esin (Religion Warlord), of Oyo State, pointed out that insecurity has worsened the ability of government to successfully diversify the economy into other areas of value, particularly agriculture.

“For Nigeria not to be a failed state, the search for patriotism, peace, unity, good governance and sustainable development must be given credence while the need to respect people’s fundamental human rights for the promotion of national values like integrity and pious life for exemplary lifestyles must be personalised,” he recommended.

Olagoke added that national consciousness to live by the national anthem and pledge must be promoted through role modelling strategic approaches.

The Islamic leader advised that the struggle to enhance socio-economic values and promote peace for security is the collective responsibility of every Nigerian.

He cautioned the Federal Government on the proposed hike in fuel prices, pointing out that it might lead to crisis and worsen the present insecurity.

The weeklong programme witnessed the commissioning of projects such as the Shafaudeen Supermart, e-Library, three blocks of classrooms for Shafaudeen Comprehensive College as well as book launch

Some prominent Nigerians were also  given awards during the occasion for their contributions to societal development
