Minister of Sports and Chairman of the National Sports Commission (NSC), Mallam Bolaji Abdulahi, believes Nigeria will record her best performance in the history of the Commonwealth Games this year.
The 2014 Commonwealth Games will be staged in Glasgow, Scotland in July.
Ahead of the games, Mallam Abdulahi said with the level of preparedness of the commission coupled with the commitment of the athletes, Nigerians should be expecting nothing less than a glorious outing, much better than what obtained in the past.
‘’We are ready for the Games in Glasgow preparation wise, we are on top of the situation and in terms of the athletes’ readiness, I can tell you that they are doing well and we are monitoring them’’.
The minister also spoke about the readiness of the commission to ensure that the country posted successful results in the year 2014, after last year’s impressive showing.
‘’I can say we had a good run in the year 2013 and with that I believe we have laid a solid foundation for this year. This year is loaded with events in various sports but I want to assure you that we would be fully ready to participate, not only to participate but to win laurels in all competitions.
‘’Hopefully, with hard work, commitment and adequate motivation, we will build on the successes of 2013,’’ Abdulahi said.
