The All Progressives Congress (APC), Osun State has told the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to stop deceiving itself that its candidate won the 2018 governorship election.
PDP had claimed to have been vindicated by the comment of the former Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Lasun Yusuf.
It would be recalled that Yusuf, speaking to journalists at the APC National Secretariat, Abuja where he had gone to purchase his governorship expression of interest and nomination form, alleged that the party didn’t win the 2018 governorship election which brought Governor Adegboyega Oyetola into office.
Osun APC however described the allegation of the former deputy speaker as childish and baseless, which is far from the reality.
In a statement issued by the Directorate of Publicity, Research and Strategy and signed by its Director, Barr. Kunle Oyatomi, the party said PDP chairman, Sunday Bisi is still living in self delusion, for calling Governor Gboyega Oyetola-led government a “stolen mandate”.
APC said that no matter how hard the opposition PDP tries, it cannot get Osun people to repeat the tragedy and horrible experience of 2003 to 2010.
Oyatomi noted that it is absolutely uncalled for, illogical and unreasonable for the former Deputy Speaker Lasun Yusuf to be tarnishing the image of the party that made him what he is today, just because of his selfish interest, saying that Oyetola would not be distracted by the ranting of people, who are only good at spreading fabricated lies to mislead the public.
“Osun State has left the era of treasury looting and inglorious government behind as APC has taken the governance of the state to an enviable higher pedesta.
“Osun is no go area for the corrupt and looters in the next year July 16 governorship election, the people of the state are wiser than ever and would not be deceived again with mere blackmail and propaganda. Oyetola has positively impressed the entire people of Osun in terms of good governance,” he added.
Oyatomi noted that it is hypocritical and nonsensical for the PDP with legacy of bad governance to be accusing the Oyetola-led government of having no infrastructural development to show in Osun in the last three years.
He said that the present government in the state has done for Osun more than people’s expectations in developing the state and will continue to work for the development of the state.
