State chief executives on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party have started arriving at the venue of their all-important PDP Governors’ Forum meeting in downtown Lagos, as activities heighten ahead of the general elections scheduled to hold later this month.
The event is expected to officially kick-off by 8:00 p.m. tonight, but some governors are yet to arrive as at the time of filling this report.
The governors currently present at the Eko Hotels venue of the event are: Governor Ayodele Fayose, Ekiti State, Governor Jonah Jang, Plateau State, Governor Godswill Akpabio, Akwa Ibom State, and Governor Ramalan Yero, Kaduna State.
The upcoming general elections and the circumstances surrounding them, such as; the use of card readers and the uncertainties that inundate Attahiru Jega’s job, are expected to dominate the forum’s discussion.
Also expected to be discussed at the meeting is the rumoured imminent exit of about 7 incumbent governors from the party.
The rumour was given further credibility when Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo State told a gathering of All Progressives Congress’ supporters today, in Lagos, that about 7 PDP governors are currently working with the APC.
“Today (Monday) about seven governors who are not APC are coming to hold meeting with us privately,” he reportedly said during a stump for Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode, the gubernatorial candidate of the APC in Lagos State.
