The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has endorsed Ondo State Governor, Rotimi Akeredolu ahead of Saturday’s governorship election in the state.
The students in a statement issued on Thursday said they decided to throw their support behind Governor Akeredolu in order for him to continue the developmental projects embarked upon in the state by his administration.
NANS, in the statement, signed by Ojo Raymond, Vice President; External Affairs; NANS, Umar Faruk, Global Secretary-General and Comrade Babatunde Akinteye, NANS JCC Chairman, Ondo State, noted that reelecting Akeredolu for the second term in office would help attract more investors to the state.
Their statement read, “In exercising their civic right, it should be noted that the students bear in mind the need to sustain ongoing developments of the Arakunrin Akeredolu administration which spanned through various sectors in the last four years he has been on the saddle.
“The achievement of the government is visible in the various revolutionary infrastructural developmental projects initiated by the Akeredolu government, spread across the 3 senatorial districts.
“Without doubt, the Akeredolu administration prioritized the industrialization of Ondo state leading to the employment of teeming youths.
“The harmonious relationship between the government and people made possible by the people-centred approach of Arakunrin Akeredolu never witnessed in Ondo state must be consolidated by patriotic citizens of Ondo state in furtherance of the transformation of the state from a civil servant state to an entrepreneurial driven economic prosperous state.
“Reelecting Arakunrin Akeredolu for a second term will guarantee the continued attraction of investors and partnership needed for all-round development.
As future leaders, we believe in the sound developmental foundation being laid by the Akeredolu digital government.
“To this end, we hereby direct the entire students in Ondo state to massively vote for the Akeredolu/Aiyedatiwa ticket on Saturday, October 10, 2020.
“Finally, we urge them to eschew violence and ensure the victory of Arakunrin Akeredolu through the ballot.
