…Vows to Transform, Reposition Association

What looked like a stumbling block on the path of Oyo State chapter of Performing Musician Association of Nigeria (PMAN) was at last conquered on Tuesday, as Juju exponent Taiwo Omotunde emerged governor of the state chapter of the association at an election between him and Pastor Remi Aderoju.
The well-attended election which was held at the Cultural Centre, Mokola Hill Ibadan, had Omotunde polling 116 votes to defeat Pastor Remi Aderoju who got 54 votes.
It would be recalled that the first election of the association held at the National Museum in Ibadan on October 18, 2018 hit the rock due to crisis which erupted at the polls.
Election of other members making the executive council was first conducted before the one which produced Omotunde as governor of the association came up.
The other executive council members are Issa Atiba Deputy Governor 1; Awolowo Timothy Segun, Deputy Governor 2; Afolabi Omiye Treasurer; Alhaji Ganiyu Finance; Pastor Remi Adejumo, PRO; Prophet Abel Akinrinade, Welfare Officer 1; KK Sunny Welfare, Officer 2; Nike Success Social Secretary and Pastor Adesokan Provost.
Earlier during the election, the two major contenders vying for office of the governor of the association, Mr Taiwo Omotunde and Pastor Remi Aderoju were given few minutes to represent their manifestos before members of the association in which the governor Omotunde had higher level of support.
The National General-Secretary of the association, Bonny Face Itodo a.k.a Buyaka, had earlier called for cooperation from members in order to achieve success on the exercise.
In his speech, Governor Omotunde assured members of the music body of adequate representation in office. “As the governor, I will ensure that the association opens a website where members can be easily accessed and reached for International business relationship, especially in the global music world. The Welfare and health scheme of members will be of high priority to me.”
“We will carry out measures that will encourage and boost interest of our people in the activities of our great association and every member will be given a sense of belonging. We shall carry out programmes that will improve and benefit members professionally”.
While appreciating members of the association for their support and cooperation, he described the exercise as free and fair adding that his government would set up committee to look into several issues affecting the body.”
Speaking with journalists on the election matter, Fuji icon, Alhaji Rashidi Ayinde Merenge described the election as a welcome development, adding that it would create a lead path to the success and advancement of the association.
While berating past administrations of the association for not been able to advance the cause of the body in the last 25 years, he promised to join hands with winner of the election to move PMAN to a greater heights.
The General-Secretary, Itodo, thanked members of the association for their cooperation, describing the success as blessing for all of them.
