The Oragun of Oke-Ila, Oba Adedokun Omoniyi Abolarin has called on people to take the ongoing vaccination against Covid-19 serious.
He also appealed to the people having survived the disease, to be wary of the terrible nature of the pandemic and join efforts with the government to end the scourge in the land.
The Monarch made the call when the team of the Special Adviser to Governor Adegboyega Oyetola on Civic Engagement, Hon. Olatunbosun Oyintiloye visited his Palace at Oke Ila.
His words: “People should take absolute responsibility in averting geometric transmissions of the pandemic while the ongoing vaccination should be embraced by all and sundry.
“Covid-19 is real, therefore, the naysayers shouldn’t be countenanced for their cynicism on the pandemic resurgence, they must rather be tamed for they are not privy of its deadliness.
“I will continue to encourage people to be responsible in the quest to make our land rid of the killer disease because I have had a sordid experience of the pandemic from which God had salvaged me.”
While recounting his experience as a victim of Covid-19, Oba Abolarin commended Oyetola’s managerial adroitness and financial expertise with which he is piloting the state affairs, thereby bringing about a massive revitalization of the health sector even before the advent of Covid-19 pandemic.
According to him, improved health care facilities inclusive of the provision of isolation centres, necessary equipment as well as the intense advocacy roles all played huge roles in managing the pandemic in the state.
“Although, we are not surprised with Oyetola’s topnotch performance because he’s known to be a refined manager of resources. His skills in public administration and grasp of good governance had made him to manipulate parameters of economic management in the face of a financial quagmire.
“With the paucity of funds, he is transforming virtually all the sectors such as infrastructure, education, security, commerce among others in addition to the full and prompt payment of salaries and pensions,” he added.
The monarch further eulogized Oyetola for the respect he has for the traditional institutions, emphasizing that he was always amazed with the manner in which the governor consults the traditional council on issues relating to the general governace in the state.
“Oyetola is indeed the face of inclusive and participatory governance for he consults the traditional rulers in decision-making process having realized our status as the true representative of the people,” he said.
While underscoring the issues of security in the nation, he called for true federalism in curbing the spate of security challenges where power and responsibilities would be devolved among the federating units of Nigeria, thereby reducing the undue concentration of power in the hand of the central government.
