    …No Iota of Truth in Rumour, says State Govt.

    Osun State government has allayed the fear of residents over the alleged Fulani attack in some parts of the state.

    There was apprehension in Ofatedo area of the state in the early hour of Friday that Fulanis were planning to invade the community, especially schools in the area.

    The rumour spread across the state thereby causing panic among the residents, which prompted parents and guardians to rush to pick their children from the school.

    Reacting to this, the State Commissioner for Information and Civic Orientation, Mrs. Funke Egbemode urged residents particularly Ofatedo Community to disregard the rumour saying there was no iota of truth in it.

    Egbemode said the state government has taken necessary measures with immediate deployment of security agencies to the area in order to forestall likely breakdown of law and order.

    To this end, Governor Gboyega Oyetola has appealed to the residents of Ofatedo and its environs to go about their normal daily business wihout fear, tension and anxiety.

    The state government also warned rumour mongers to desist from all acts that could lead to any breach of pece in the state.

    Similarly, the Police Command has assured the people of the state of adequate security.

    Commissioner of Police, Olawale Olokode in a statement signed by the command’s spokesperson, Yemisi Opalola said the command is ready to tackle all forms of criminal activities and threat, urging members of the public to comport themselves and jettison fear of insecurity in the state.

    He said the Command has embarked on manhunt for criminals terrorizing some parts of the State

    “This becomes imperative and necessitated by the threatening letter of invasion written to some communities in the state by some unscrupulous elements which the Police Command in collaboration with other security agents and local security outfits are working tooth and nail to arrest the criminals and brought them to book., ” the commissioner said.
