The National Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has set up special taskforce ahead of the 2019 general elections, saying that the victory of the party at the polls is crucial.
Members of the special taskforce includes: Mr DemolaSeriki, Sen. Musiliu Obanikoro, Chief Mutiu Are, Current Secretary to the State Government (SSG) Mr Tunji Bello, Speaker Lagos State House of Assembly, Rt (Hon) Mudashiru Obasa, Deputy Speaker Wasiu Eshinlokun-Sanni, Lagos APC Chief Scribe, Mr Wale Ahmed, BOS-ICG Director of Mobilisation, Alhaji Abdullai Enilolobo, Hon.Toun Adeniran, APC South West Women Leader, Chief (Mrs) Kemi Nelson, Chief Bode Oyedele, Lagos APC Women Leader, Chief (Mrs) Okoya-Thomas, Former Commissioner For Transportation, Comrade Kayode Opeifa, Chief (Mrs) Toke Benson, among others.
Tinubu said the members of the taskforce are automatic coordinators of all the party executives across the state, saying that elected officials would be held responsible for any lapses in their locality.
He, however, urged the special taskforce, executives of the party to embark on final reconciliation of all aggrieved members by holding a crucial meeting, yesterday, with the aim of consolidating on electoral victory.
Tinubu explained that he does not need funds from President Muhammadu Buhari and the Lagos State government to win election in the state, expressing confidence in delivering maximum votes to party’s presidential candidate and other candidates in Saturday poll.
The APC National Leader who addressed the party leaders and supporters at a stakeholders meeting held in Ikeja Police College, Lagos, warned some party stalwarts and members to desist from any form of anti-party activities or be dealt with, as the party leadership is closely watching the political activities of some party stalwarts who were planning to work against the party’s candidates in the general elections.
Tinubu who spoke on a number of issues bordering on a peaceful conduct of the election and how to ensure maximum victory for the party from top to bottom, tasked party members to take the campaign aggressively to the neighboürhood, door-to-door in order to ensure at least 3 million votes for Buhari’s re-election.
“Buhari has no money to be stolen from him let alone demand for money for campaign to win election. I don’t need to go to Alausa for fund. I’m capable, with proven integrity to win election in this country”, said Tinubu
“Ï do not depend on anybody to fulfil my promise to you. I will keep my promise according to your strength of votes delivered for the victory of APC. Every member that worked hard will be adequately compensated. I’m not here to buy your votes, I’m here to encourage you to work harder for the victory of Buhari and APC all the way”, Tinubu added
The APC National Leader stressed “I have no dream or ambition to be President of this country. When we decided to follow Buhari, we still stand firmly behind him and we are going to vote massively for Buhari in Lagos. We do not believe in violence, we are confidence of victory”
He commended members of the GAC, state executives for their leadership role in maintaining peace, tranquillity among all strata within the party, imploring them not to relent in delivering Lagos for Buhari and all APC candidates in the election.
In his comment, the APC governorship candidate in the state, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu, who declared “Öperation deliver your polling booth,” called on the supporters particularly, women to follow the direction Tinubu laid to ensure victory, saying that it was realistic.
Sanwo-Olu added “I urge everyone most especially our mothers to follow the direction our leader, Asiwaju, has laid to ensure our victory. It is achievable.”
