Tinubu’s Ancestry Irrelevant, Says Pastor Bakare

…warns Yoruba against destroying their heroes

Founder, Latter Rain Assembly, Pastor Tunde Bakare has warned Yoruba elders against blackmailing the National Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) over his state of origin.

The fiery preacher also admonished Yoruba people against destroying their heroes.

In a powerful sermon on Sunday, Bakare regretted that Tinubu’s ancestry has become headache for some people at the expense of the man’s contribution to the emancipation of the South Wsst.

He said: “I have a word for some Yor7uba people whose stock in trade is nothing but a rancorous noise characterised by bitterness and resentment about the ancestry of the former two-time governor of Lagos State, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

“I have a word for those Yoruba rancorous elements, noise makers, who had not achieved  as much as Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu had achieved, but are always querying and worrying themselves about his ancestry.  “His transducers are quick to tell you he is from Iragbiji in Osun State. He is not from Lagos State as if that will resolve the issues we face today.

“Hear me loud and clear, knowing the names of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s biological mother and father or his place of birth cannot put food on the table of the hungry or create jobs the the unemployed or the unemployable.”

Bakare recalled that Tinubu it was, who delivered “Lagos and nearly all the South West States from the onslaught of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, from 1999 to 2007, despite his growing up challenges.

He also noted the contributions of the Asiwaju Tinubu to the electoral success of the APC in the 2015 and 2019 presidential elections, nothing that without his cooperation and political dexterity, the victory at the polls would have been impossible.

“Frankly speaking, I am not sure that many of his transducers would have survived if they had gone through the vicissitudes of life that Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu went through.

“Therefore, those who desire to take his past lot should stop their useless talk about him and busy themselves with what can add value to society,” he added.

The man of God said the APC leader had the right to call the late Iyaloja of Lagos, Alhaja Abibat Mogaji his mother because of the contribution she made towards his upbringing.

He said: “No right thinking person would describe himself as a self made man.

“In the words of George Mathew Adam’s ‘there is no self made man. You are made of thousands of others. Everyone who has ever done a kind deed to us or spoken a word of encouragement to us has entered into the make-up of our character, our thought as well as our success.

“I think this was the basis of the relationship between the late Iysloja Abibat Mogaji and his adopted son, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

“Therefore  the later calling the former his mother is not only proper, it is also honourable.

“Asiwaju did not and could not choose his biological parents, yet, no one can forbid him from choosing his role models or stop him from changing his name.”

Bakare said his admonition was borne out of recent happenings in the south west, where some strange bed fellows were making attempts to come together to rubbish the Jagaban Borgu, despite the many battles he fought and won on behalf of the race.

He said: “I hope my admonition is well received. Let me tell you why you must receive it. I was st home when messages were sent to my phone by WhatsApp.  Elder statesmen, who are strange bed fellows suddenly came together to say in order to deliver Yoruba people  we must come together. These are strange bed fellows.

“And their representative came to my home and said Pastor….they put my name there. They didn’t consult me before they put my name. They put the names of other eminent Yoruba people there also; men of the clothes and those who are naked

“They said there will be a summit in January so that Yoruba people and the people of the south can take a position against the onslaught of the enemy.

“So, I asked the man who came to my house a question. I said ‘who are you planning to kill’. He said ‘no, we are not planning to kill anybody. We just want to do what is right so that Yoruba can be free’.

“I said that’s fine. This person and this person are sworn enemies. How did they become friends. He said for a common cause. I said no. When Pilate and Herod agreed, it was because they wanted to kill Jesus.

“Then I told him what he was not ready to listen to. I said have you gone to Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu for a buy in. He said yes, we have reached him and he agreed totally. He is going to play ball with them, but there are some things to be agreed upon later.

“Amd a week after, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s group also fixed the same date for the same Ibadan city for their own summit, summoning all the governors in the south west and all the obas to be there.

“Who will follow the others? Nobody.

“Look, I am telling you the truth. Accept your humble pie and eat it. When you were sleeping, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu was working day and night. He secured Lagos, Ogun, Oyo, Osun, Ekiti, Ondo and Edo and you say he is a nobody.

“And you think he laboured that much to now say come and take. No! He is not a fool. Stop this nonsense about ancestry. You will kill your heroes and those who can deliver you.”
