The ongoing trial of Seun Oladapo who allegedly killed a human rights lawyer, Kunle Fadipe, could not continue on Wednesday at the Lagos High Court, Ikeja.
Oladapo was supposed to open his defence but his counsel, Walter Oduagbaka, informed the court that he has not had an opportunity to discuss with his client.
Oduagbaka therefore prayed that the court should grant him a short adjournment in the interest of justice so as to give his client a proper legal representation.
But the Lagos State Director of Public Prosecution, Mrs. Idowu Alakija, who is the prosecuting counsel, urged the court to disregard the prayer as it lacked merit.
The presiding Judge, Justice Oluwatoyin Ipaye, however, granted the prayer of the defence counsel as he maintained that the man needed opportunity to discuss with his clients for proper legal representation.
The matter was adjourned till February 18th for the defendant to open his defence in the trial.
