Dear Otunba (Dr.) Sunday Isola Adeniyi Adegeye, MFR, better known all over the world as King Sunny Ade (KSA,) I wish you a happy 74th birthday today, as I pray that you continue to receive God’s blessings. Amen.
Since our paths first crossed, 46 years ago, when I was the 24-year-old social page editor of the popular Sunday Sketch (please, read my review page in the Sunday Sketch newspaper issue of Sunday, 30th December 1974), titled “1974, THE GROOVIEST YEAR EVER”, it’s been a friendship/brotherhood of mutual respect and unfailing accord.
Egin,wa a gbo,wa a to.Amin.
I first appeared at KSA’s live (actually on television) performance, 52 years ago, on Africa’s first television, the WESTERN NIGERIA TELEVISION SERVICE (WNTV, IBADAN) popular weekly (Wednesdays) live musical show, “COME, LET’S DANCE”, hosted by the late queen-of-the-tube-turned-lawyer, the pretty Toun Adeyemi.
I was then a member of the jet-setting circle led by the late haulage/property development businessman, Chief Afolabi Majekodunmi, alias “KING OF BOYS”.
