Truck Accident: AAUA Orders Students To Vacate School Premises

Sequel to the sad occurrence at Adekunle Ajasin Univeristy, Akungba Akoko (AAUA), Akoko South West Local Government Area, Ondo state on Saturday, the university management has directed students of the institution to vacate the school premises with immediate effect.

Western Post on Saturday reported that 12 persons were confirmed dead in an accident that occurred near the entrance gate of the AAUA in Akoko South West Local Government Area.

The accident was said to have occurred when a Dangote truck coming from Obajana in Kogi State lost control and rammed into some shops and crushed both students and traders.

A statement made available to Western Post on Sunday by the University Acting Registrar, Opeoluwa Akinfenwa said, “Further to our circular of Saturday 23rd January, 2021 and the attendant protest by students on Sunday, 24th January, 2021, the Acting Vice-Chancellor, Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba Akoko, Prof Olugbenga Ige, on behalf of Senate, has directed that the University be closed with immediate effect until further notice.

“All students are therefore advised to vacate the campus latest by 6pm today, Sunday 24th January, 2021.”
