Osun State University, Osogbo on Tuesday matriculated 2,192 students at its seventh matriculation ceremony held across the six campuses of the institution in Osogbo, Okuku, Ejigbo, Ikire, Ipetu-Ijesa and Ifetedo.
The Vice-Chancellor of the institution, Professor Basir Okesina while speaking through the provost of College of Humanities and Culture, Professor Folorunsho Kizito, at the Ikire campus of UNIOSUN, said by taking the matriculation oath, the students have publicly declared their willingness and acceptance of the terms and obligations of
studentship and commitment to the university’s core values.
He advised that a matriculation ceremony is not a mere routine but a significant rite of passage in the life of every university student.
Congratulating the matriculating students, the VC felicitated with their families and friends who came to rejoice with them. Okesina then noted that the matriculation is not only historic, but also a clear demonstration that the students and the authority of the university shared an interlocking relationship and a bonded destiny to make the institution a preferred university of choice and a centre of academic and moral excellence.
His words: “Our dear matriculating students, today’s ceremony marks your formal admission into the UNIOSUN family- the endearing name for students and alumni of this university. By your admission into this university, you will be following the footsteps of many great men and women who passed through rigours of learning and culture to become our ambassadors”
He enjoined the students to walk the path of peace, embrace the fear of God and be their friend’s keeper.
