Tragedy visited Osun state as unknown gunmen allegedly kidnapped three Chinese expatriates carrying out their professional duty at a mining site in Ijoka village near Itagunmodi in Atakumosa West Area of the state .
Our correspondent gathered that the gunmen stormed the site on Monday afternoon and exchanged unstoppable gunshots with the police team serving as security personnel for the Chinese and thereafter killed one police officer before they could carry out the kidnap operation.
It was gathered that a Chinese expatriate who tried to escape from the gunmen was shot and injured.
The expatriate is currently at the Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospital, Ile-Ife, receiving medical treatment to help preserve his life.
As at when this report was filed, our correspondent gathered that the Police Commissioner in Osun State, Abiodun Ige, led detectives to the scene of the kidnap.
Speaking to newsmen, CP Ige disclosed that operatives of the Nigeria police were already in the bush in search of the abductors.
