By Temitope Adedeji, Akure
Mrs. Jumoke Saanumi, the woman whose six children and her husband were set ablaze in Okitipupa, Ondo State by Deji Adenuga, the jilted boyfriend of her daughter, has died.
She died on Friday morning apparently over her agony over her monumental loss.
Adenuga was said to have felt cheated after the woman’s daughter ditched him and as such decided to wipe off the entire family.
According to a family source, who confirmed the ugly incident to WESTERN POST, the woman died as a result of high blood pressure (HBP), which is not unconnected with the shock and bitter experience she could no longer bear.
Mrs. Saanumi managed to escape the inferno at the dead hour of the day night around 2:am when Adenuga poured and sprinkled petrol in the one-room apartment the family lived in.
The room immediately went up in flames consuming her six children namely Adebayo, Mercy, Johnson, Adesewa and Temidayo. They were all burnt beyond recognition, dying one after the other.
Four of them were boys and the remaining two girls.
Meanwhile the girlfriend, Titi, who was in the room when the incident happened got burnt so badly that the doctors doubted if she could leave normal life again.
Titi is still at the critical care unit of the Trauma Centre Hospital, Ondo, where serious treatment is being given to her with the assistance of the Ondo State Government.
36-year-old Mrs. Saanumi will be buried in her hometown of Igbokoda, in Ilaje Local Government area of Ondo at a date yet-to-be announced.
Adenuga, however, is in detention awaiting what becomes of his fate over his evil act.
