Hundreds of 2017 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) applicants have expressed grievances over the acclaimed bad network services by commercial banks partnering with the examination board which does not enable the applicants to access the pin for registration.
The UTME also known as Jamb commenced the sales of 2017 pin for registration on Monday 20th of March to various higher institution admission seekers after a long time ‘restructuring’.
According to our Correspondents Jamb applicants have began to flood various banks who partner with examination board in which most of them return home everyday unable to buy the pin.
Speaking with our Correspondent an applicant Isiaq Kausara said she has been to various banks since yesterday Monday 27th with the hope to buy the pin and do the registration proper but could not as result of bad network.
Isiaq who graduated from secondary school last year said she came as early as 7:00am today(Tuesday) to Zenith bank so as to buy the pin but till 2:00pm she has not been able to pay,not to talk of getting the pin for registration due to poor network service said by banks officials.
“I have been to various banks yesterday such as Unity Bank Ojatun-tun and Zenith Bank Surulere branches in different location in Ilorin but could not pay as a result of poor network service,so today I woke up so early, got here 7:00am and till now 2:00pm they are yet to collect the money from me,” she explained.
Also Ajarah Shuaib who is about to complete her secondary school education this year said she has been going about the banks in Ilorin metropolis since last week to access the pin so as to do the registration but experienced dashed hope as she could not owing to bad network excuses given by banks.
However some set of the applicants who do not want their names mentioned said they have been able to pay but yet to get the pin since last week due to network problem leaving them wasting transportation fare to and fro.
Another applicant who had gotten the pin said she was not given materials to read for the forthcoming examination.
” I have gotten the pin though I paid after some of them who has not gotten pin,but I was not given the literature text nor brochure,” she said.
A Zenith bank official who spoke with our correspondent said the pin will be sent to email box of individual as soon as it is generated.
Effort made to get the reaction of Kwara State Coordinator for Jamb on the development proved abortive as calls and text messages sent across to him were not answered nor replied.
