Veteran Yoruba actress, Folake Aremu, popularly known as Orisabunmi, has died.
The 60-year-old died four months after ex-husband Jimoh Aliu, better known as Aworo, passed on to his ancestors.
President of the Theatre Arts And Motion Pictures Practitioners Association of Nigeria (TAMPAN) Bolaji Amusan, aka Mr. Latin, confirmed Orisabunmi’s transition on Tuesday night.
Another senior TAMPAN member, Tunde Ola-Yusuff, also announced the passing in a Facebook post.
“She left without saying goodbye. The sudden death of Mrs. Folake Aremu (ORISABUNMI) has been announced.
“Really a shock on everyone. Iya Oosa. May God rest your soul among the righteous,” Ola Yusuff wrote.
Born on October 10, 1960, in Ilu Ola, Kwara State, Orisabunmi became popular in the 80s TV series Arelu starring her husband Jimoh Aliu and others like Fadeyi Oloro.
Jimoh and Folake Aliu had a very rocky marriage, often rocked by allegations of infidelity.
The two were separated long before Aworo died in September 2020.
She was alleged to have had a fling with African Beats maestro, King Sunny Ade, with whom she once had some collaboration. But the allegation remained unproven.
