Vigilance Group, Police Kill Four Suspected Kidnappers in Kogi

By Olawale Ibrahim, Lokoja

Four suspected Kidnappers were killed along Lokoja- Okene highway in Kogi State at the weekend.

It was gathered that the combined patrol team of the state vigilance group and the police foiled another kidnapping attempt along the highway.

Sources told WESTERN POST that four of the suspected kidnappers met their waterloo when they tried to kidnap travellers around 6.30 pm on Sunday.

The Lokoja-Okene, Abuja highway has been a flashpoint for kidnappers in the last two weeks with incidents of kidnapping being reported on a daily basis.

This, it was gathered, has prompted the state security adviser, Navy Commander Jerry Omodara, to deploy men of the state vigilance services along the road to complement the efforts of the state police command.

The efforts paid off on Sunday when four suspects were reportedly killed along the route by the joint task force of Police and Kogi state vigilance service.

The Police Public Relations Officer DSP William Aya, when contacted, promised to get back to our correspondent but was yet to do so at the time of filing this report.
