Nigeria’s President, Muhammadu Buhari said the All Progressives Congress (APC) is preparing to remain in power for as long as possible.
Featuring on a Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) exclusive interview session, Buhari also said the performance of his government would determine the future success of the party at the polls.
The president said the recent bottom up registration and revalidation of membership exercise was geared towards ensuring a strong political party with massive support base.
He said that the exercise has ensured that APC has large followership in every state of the federation, adding that it was his insistence that the party registration must start at the ward level to ensure a bottom up approach.
On his legacy, President Buhari said he would to leave bequeath a secured and prosperous nation to whoever succeeded him in office.
Buhari expressed the hope that Nigeria continues with the multi-party democracy where people have variety of choices to choose their leaders.
The president also expressed his unflinching support for special courts to try corruption cases. This, he said, will save time as well as convince Nigerians that the government is serious in the fight against corruption.
