Founder, Help Women Foundation, Mrs. Ayobola Olupinla has disclosed that, Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) has its core mandate in empowering women which in turn made them buoyant and add value to the society.
She said about 134 women across the 16 local government areas of Kwara state have benefitted from the Foundation gesture of food distribution in the last six months of its operation.
Olupinla made this disclosure in her welcome address at the sixth- month celebration of the Foundation existence held on Thursday in Ilorin.
She added that 10 women were selected for various empowerment across the 16local government area of the state, including women with disability.
“Help Women Foundation is about taken care of poorest of the poor at the grassroots in the 16 local government area of Kwara state- we give food items to them.
“We empower 20 women on entrepreneurship so as to make them buoyant. We focus on widows, divorced women and women with disability, “she said.
She called on well-meaning Nigerians to embrace the gesture and put smiles on vulnerable people faces by empowering and giving them means of livelihood.
Olupinla thanked the beneficiaries who turned up for the programme where 53 people benefitted from food items distribution.
In her speech, Commissioner for Women Affairs, Mrs Bosede Aremu said the State government is highly committed to well being of women in the state.
The Commissioner, who was represented by Permeant Secretary of the Ministry Hajia Afusat Ibrahim noted that, the women take care of husbands and children,which she said without assistance from various people there was no way women could stand firm.
She commended the Founder of the Foundation,for managing home front and career perfectly as well as thinking of helping less privileged women.
She disclosed that, women at the grassroots are billed to enjoy more of present administration good gestures in the coming year.
She urged the men canterpart to make life more easier for the women and enjoined women not to compete with their men in the name of liberation.
Also speaking,Alhaji Tunde Akanbi lauded the state government for giving the Founder opportunity to carry out the programme.
He urged people to adhere strictly to all the COVID-19 protocols spelt out by health workers and state government so as to flatten the curve.
He urged women to tolerate their husbands, and widows to embrace entrepreneurship rather than going begging.
