Old Ipaja road named after Tinubu
Dopemu road named after Sanwo-olu
Former Lagos governor, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, on Friday said the All Progressives Congress in Lagos State picked Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu so as to redirect Lagos for progress and development.
He made this statement at the inauguration of Agege Pen-Cinema Flyover Bridge.
In his address on the occasion, the former governor said that sometime in 2017, 2018, the ship of the state was redirected because the ship was going in a wrong direction.
He said: “When the ship of the state was being misdirected in 2017, 2018, the leadership brought in Sanwo-Olu through a democratic process.
According to him: “Some say who is Sanwo-Olu and I said you would soon find out. Ever since Sanwo-Olu became the captain of the ship of the state, he has turned it to the right direction for progress and development. Both Sanwo-Olu and Hamzat and the cabinet have turned it around.
“Babajide Sanwo-Olu and Obafemi Hamzat are building Lagos back to progress, no matter the economic turbulence. Lagos State has been like one huge construction yard,” he said.
Asiwaju Tinubu also advised youths to give peace a chance, noting that “if there is no peace, there can’t be development.”
He said the government was doing all it can to make sure it builds good schools for the future generation.
Governor Sanwo-Olu said flyover the project was under 20 percent construction when he assumed office, but he made sure it was completed.
He said that the project would reduce the traffic time in the axis.
Lagos State Assembly Speaker, Hon. Mudashiru Obasa, who is from Agege Constituency, said the motion for the construction of the flyover bridge was tabled before he became speaker.
He said the motion was brought up again before work eventually commenced.
The Chairman Agege Local Government, Hon. Kola Egunjobi, announced the naming of the Old Ipaja road after Tinubu and Dopemu road after Governor Sanwo-Olu, which both of them accepted.
