The proprietress of Philia Private School, Ijako Ogun state has called on both Federal and state governments to support people living with disabilities to make a success of their careers.
Mrs. Hunjo Sofolahan made this call at her school during 2021 cultural day celebration in Ijako, Ogun state.
She said that while many people looked at the people with disabilities with pity, what they needed was support and how to empower them to be independent in life.
According to her, “the government needed to do more to support people with disabilities, adding that many government buildings and offices were not disability-friendly.”
Speaking on the essence of Cultural day celebration, the school proprietress said culture is central to human existence and education, it is incomplete without the appreciation of culture.
Also present at the occasion was Ace Radio presenter, Mr. Emmanuel Adeyemo a.k.a Otolorin of Bond FM Lagos
In his remark, the guest speaker Regent of Ishering kingdom, Oyo state, Oba Iyunade Ajibike Ashabi also CEO of Iyunade tradomedicals advised Nigerian parents to take good care of their children irrespective of their disability status.
She also called on parents and guardians to be proud of their cultural heritage either at home or diaspora and encouraged them to speak their language to the children.
She also advised all parents and guardians to always show appreciation to their children’s teachers.
