Towards ensuring that development cut across the nook and cranny of Ogun State, the Prince Dapo Abiodun led administration has assured that at least, a project would be commissioned in each Local Government (LG) of the State.
This is coming on the heels of the governor commemorating its one year in office.
Giving this assurance while fielding questions from journalists in Abeokuta, the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon. Afolabi Afuape, said the Local Government Areas (LGAs) were embarking on different people-oriented projects, expected to be commissioned by May, 2020, maintaining that no white elephant project would be embarked upon.
Afuape noted that the present administration had ensured that Local Councils carry out every function expected of them according to the constitution, while the State performs a supervisory role, adding that the purpose of creating LGAs would be jeopardized if the Caretaker Committee Chairmen were not allowed to carry out their functions.
He pointed out that the review of Local Government laws would further enhance and give full direction to operational guidelines for the third tier of government, as its performance would ensure spread of dividends of democracy to the people.
