The newly inaugurated National Chairperson, Society of Women in Taxation (SWIT) Dr. Biola Adimula has said her administration would enlighten the public on how to avoid double taxation as well as create awareness on Tax and Taxation practice in Nigeria.
Adimula promised to ensured that the objectives of the Institution are accomplished by collaborating with the Federal Inland Revenue Service and other relevant agencies.
Adimula stated this while speaking with newsmen shortly after her investiture ceremony as the 4th National Chairperson of the Society held in Ilorin over the weekend.
“The Society of Women in Taxation in Nigeria, would work with Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria,(CITN) to ensure aims and objectives of the Institute are accomplished.
We will to work with Federal Inland Revenue Service, to ensure their initiatives are disseminated to the public, now that COVID-19 has affected all spheres of lives, including the Taxation and Tax practice in Nigeria.
“We will enlighten the public to avoid double taxation and other vices,we will work with relevant agencies to assist the government in national development on issues that relate with monetary policies, planning and Taxation in Nigeria.”
According to her, the reason why people evade tax is because they are not getting results on services.
“We will work with the government to ensure the taxes paid are used for infrastructural development.
“I’m sure that Nigerians are responsible people, once they see what their taxes are being used for,they will not evade tax anymore,they will continue to do their civil responsibilities” she said.
Also speaking, the Vice President, Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria (CITN) Mr. Samuel Agbeluyi expressed happiness over the newly inaugurated executive adding that the executive is led by capable chairperson.
Agbeluyi enjoined the national chairperson of the Society to carry every member of executive along as well as work in unity.
