The Vice-Chancellor, Federal University, Lokoja (FUL), Professor Angela Miri has reiterated the commitment of the management to maintain high standards of education In the institution.
She said that the University has thus maintained a stable academic calendar which is one of motivating factors that has inspired the many candidates to chose Federal University, Lokoja as their first choice.
She noted that in 2019/2020 academic session the institution receives so far over 2,600 application and only 1500 will be admitted based on the limited carrying capacity.
Professor Miri who disclosed this while speaking at a pre- convocation press conference at the Adankolo campus of the University yesterday, stated the management team is poised to move the nascent citadel of learning forward despite the challenges.
She explained that since her assumption of duty as Vice-Chancellor, it has been her desire that Federal University, Lokoja begins operation at the permanent site where opportunities especially with respect to vast land space for fast and steady development.
The Vice-Chancellor posited that in addition to the existing programmes , the National University Commission NUC has approved 29 new undergraduate programmes in the 9 newly established Facilities.
She added the University is set to invite the National University Commission NUC for Resource Verification of the 29 new programmes approved by the commission in Faculties of Arts, Social Science, Science, Management Science Education -Art and Social Science, Education, Library and Information Science , Science Education and Vocation and Technical Education .
“All programmes run before the introduction of the 29 new programmes in the faculties of Arts , Social Science and Science have received full accreditation . We are committed to sustaining the highest standards of all our academic programmes that would guarantee full accreditation at all times”,she stressed.
On the movement to the permanent site,the Vice-Chancellor stated that the Institution will operate dual campuses as from January 2020 , adding that the Adankolo campus remain as Faculty of Sciences because of the availability of laboratories, while other faculties will move to the permanent site at Felele ,the outskirt of Lokoja ,the State Capital.
