Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun has assured the people of Ogun West that his administration is not disposed to developing one region of the state at the expense of the other.

He noted that contractual agreement to facilitate a public-private partnership to fix the about 62km Agbara-Lusada road has reached an advanced stage.

The Governor gave the hint when responding to questions from stakeholders at the Town Hall meeting for Ogun West held virtually in continuation of governments citizens’ engagement preparatory to the 2021-2023 Medium Term Expenditure Framework and 2021 Budget.

The Information Head, Min of Budget and Planning, Ogun state, Odunayo Ogunleye in a statement on Wednesday said that state governor maintained that ‘’ I am the governor of Ogun State and for all the people. I have no deliberate intention, nor my administration to develop any part of the state at the expense of the other.

“We will continue to give the attention that is due to every part of the state. We have requested the Federal Government to hand over the Agbara-Lusada road as well as the Sango- Abeokuta roads to us and we are not oblivious of the fact that these roads are very deplorable states and we are committed to fixing them.”

He had earlier stated in his opening remarks that his administration is committed to ensuring commercial viability of the Ogun West Senatorial District being a key hub for commercial activities and the busiest border between the state and the international community adding that this status necessitated the strategic choice of Ogun West as the first beneficiary of his administration’s road construction work which as Ikola, Oju-ore raod and Raypower roads were the first roads to be commissioned by his administration.

He highlighted some of the roads already undergoing rehabilitation and reconstruction by his administration to include Joju-Ojuore, Oke Orita, Oke Ola, Ipokia –Alfa Roads among others while there are concerted efforts by his administration to consistently attend to major roads as well as rural roads in the area just as other parts of the State.

Abiodun however initiated a meeting between government and the paramount Ruler of Yewa land as well as other stakeholders in the area to jointly review the list of roads already tendered by the stakeholders in the region nothing that recent agitations by people of yewa land indicated that the roads have to be prioritized.

‘’I am surprised by the agitations on roads by our stakeholders   I Ogun WEST, it only shows something is not right and so I tasked the Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure as well as his counterpart in Transport to seat with the Paramount Ruler of Yewaland and the other staekeholders in the region to re-itemize the road projects they have earlier submitted in order of priority so as to lay to rest their demands.

Earlier, the Olu Ilaro and Paramount Ruler of Yewa Land, Oba Kehinde Olugbenle have alleged that OgunWest have suffred undue neglect by previous administration in the State , calling on Governor Dapo Abiodun to address the huge road deficit in the area nothing that ‘ no road initiated by the previous administration was completed before wound up’’.
