The Minister of Information, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, on Sunday said President Muhammadu Buhari did not release the details of looted assets recovered from corrupt persons due to legal reasons.
In his broadcast to the nation, President Buhari had said the Minister of Information would release details of assets recovered so far by his government.
Mohammed spoke on Sunday on Channels Television.
He said: “Yes, he initially said so, but he was advised against doing so for legal reasons.
“Of course, he has a right to reverse himself on that.
“We will get the list but not today; before the end of the week.
“But I must say not with the names.”
President Buhari had on May 14 in the United Kingdom promised to provide specific details of stolen assets by former public officials in his May 29 Democratic Day broadcast.
