The Sports Minister, Tammy Dangogo, has said on behalf of the Nigerian government that the Super Eagles are expected to play in the final of the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.
The Super Eagles best performance at the tournament has been reaching the round of 16 in 1994 and 1998, but sports minister, Tammy Dangogo, announced the African champions have a target of reaching the finals of the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.
“Nigeria will surprise the world in Brazil with her performance. The Super Eagles have the players that will deliver. Our target is to win the cup,” declared the top sports chief.
“Playing in the semi-finals is the minimum expectation; I see the team bringing the cup to Nigeria.”
He also urged the coach Stephen Keshi-led side to use their exploits in the World Cup to improve the image of the country internationally.
Nigeria is drawn in Group F along with Argentina, Bosnia Herzegovina and Iran.
