The Amirah of Al-Akhwaatul Muslimah Organisation, Oyo State chapter, Alhaja Bashirat Omowumi Ashim has enjoined Muslim women in the country to always wear hijab according to the dictate and command of Almighty Allah in order to appreciate the values and beauty of God in them.
Alhaja Ashim made the point in an interview with newsmen in Ibadan, on the occasion of 2021 celebration of World Hijab Day.
According to her, Hijab wearing is a command from Almighty Allah, made compulsory for Muslim women as part of their dressing.
“The World Hijab Day was created in 2013 to encourage Muslim women from different background to put on Hijab.
“Every February 1st is the World Hijab Day celebration all over the world.”
In commemorating the day, the group paid courtesy visit to the commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Inclusion, Alhaja Fausat Sanni, the Special Assistant to governor Seyi Makinde on Islamic Affairs, Alhaji AbdulRasheed AbdulAzeez, and the visit was historic. ”
The commissioner and the Special Assistant to the governor expressed delight at the visit, describing it as a welcome development.
Alhaja Ashim who said the visit was aimed at identifying with the commissioner and to celebrate the day expressed confidence that the occasion will encourage more Muslim women to embrace Hijab wearing.
“The Hijab is not fashion but dress code to encourage morals in Muslim women.
“The celebration is also aimed at addressing the issue of discrimination face by Muslim women in our society in some occasion.
She said the celebration provided them the opportunity to create more awareness to reach out to Muslim women to embrace wearing of Hijab instead of western dress.
The Amirah who is the proprietress of Ar- Rahman -the Beneficent Nursery And Primary School, Muslim area in Ibadan charged the women to be of good morals and discipline to uphold virtues of good Muslim Women.
According to her, wearing of Hijab has nothing to do with social vices such as the Boko Haram insurgence in our society as believed by some people.
The Amirah then commended governor Seyi Makinde for identifying with Muslims across the state and for creating enabling environment for them to thrive in their activities.
