Oyo State Commissioner of Police, CP Joe Nwachukwu Enwonwu has admonished people of the state to be security conscious during and after the yuletide season.
He vowed that police will also be on ground to provide maximum security for the people.
The Police boss gave the admonition in an interview with Western Post News in his office ahead the Christmas and new year celebration, adding that members of the public should not be carried away by the sensation of the celebration.
He said the police would not fold its hands and allow crime to rear its ugly head in the state especially during the festive period, assuring the people that they are fully on ground to provide adequate security for them.
According to him, “It is our responsibility to provide security for the public, but we cannot do it alone without the public giving us timely information on crime and not malicious one.
“But if they keep quiet, we cannot do it alone, it is only by their cooperation that we can achieve the best.”
The Commissioner of Police said the people need to be extra vigilant and always be at alert at this point, adding that when they see strange faces in their area they should call on the police or security agency for intervention.
“Police will be on ground for proper monitoring. We also have our men who work in Covert operation for monitoring.
“People should not be carried away by the sensation of the celebration and avoid hidden places at odd hours.”
The police boss then urged parents to caution and monitor movement of their children and wards at this point in time in order to celebrate in an atmosphere of peace devoid of problems.
The CP also urged the people to obey simple traffic rules to avoid needles gridlock on our roads.
