The Governor of the State of Osun, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, has described the killing of dozens of students of Federal Government College, Yobe by Boko Haram as brutal and barbaric.
Aregbesola, in a statement by the Director of Bureau of Communications and Strategy, Office of the Governor, Mr. Semiu Okanlawon, said the killing of the innocent students was unconscionable as such dastardly act could only be perpetrated by people who have lost sanity and lack human feelings.
The governor said he was alarmed by the inhuman and brazen manner in which the Boko Haram now unleash violence on all cadres of people in the society.
He said the activities of Boko Haram should worry all in the country because attacks on innocent and defenceless school students is now becoming a regular occurrence, a trend that must as a matter of urgency be arrested forthwith.
Aregbesola called on security agencies to be proactive in safeguarding the lives of people and their property across the country.
“The murder of innocent school children by some psychopaths is most barbaric, inhuman and criminal.
“What could drive people to do such mad thing is unimaginable. What for and in the name of what could anyone murder innocent school children in such cold blood?
“Nowhere across the country seems safe for people again. All security agencies particularly those involved with intelligence gathering must gird their loins, improve on their acts and come to the rescue of Nigerians. This latest act of reckless massacre of innocent citizens is unacceptable, mind-boggling, frightening and wicked. It calls for concerted efforts from all patriots to find a lasting solution to this menace. After all, the security and welfare of citizens remain the supreme responsibilities of any organized society.”
“On behalf of government and people of the State of Osun, I commiserate with the families of the murdered students, people and Government of Yobe .
“May Allah give all concerned the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss,” Aregbesola said.
