Loyalists of Interior Minister, Mr. Rauf Aregbesola on Wednesday took their protest to the Osun State Police Command over what they described as bias and lack of professional etiquette of the Commissioner of Police, Wale Olokode.
The protesters called for the immediate removal of the commissioner, saying that his action may run the state into crisis if not quickly curtailed.
They further accused him of playing the scripts of Governor Gboyega Oyetola at all time.
“We note with serious concern that your bias nature and lack of professional etiquette may run Osun into crisis if it’s not quickly curtailed.
“We have had cause to call on you to step down by asking for redeployment because the people of Osun no longer have confidence in you by virtue of your lack of correct disposition towards your job.
“It is certain that you have been compromised by Governor Oyetola by challenging a sister security organisation who had dared to be professional in an attack on a minister of the republic, and your command later provided guide and cover for orchestrated protesters to the organisation’s headquarters,” they said in a petition.
Armed with placards with different inscriptions that read; “Stop playing Oyetola Scripts”, “Stop sending our people to prison,” “We are tired of your incessant harassment,” and many others, the Aregbesola loyalists marched to the police headquarters in Osogbo.
Deputy Commissioner of Police, Valentine Kanayo, who attended to the group, remarked that the allegation of biase levelled against the police on the current political situation in the state was wrong.
He, however, promised to look into their request.
