Governor of Osun State, Mr Adegboyega Oyetola has urged newly recruited teachers into the state’s teaching service to see themselves as bridge builders between now and the future of the state in the course of discharging their duties.

The governor stated this on Monday while officially declaring open the pre-engagement training workshop organized for the newly recruited teachers into public schools across the state.

Oyetola said the state decided to go the way of recruiting science inclined teachers for now because the future will be controlled by science and that the state must prepare for that future.

He also said the recruitment of the new teachers became necessary because of the man power gap that has been created in the classrooms as a result of teachers exiting the service and the resolve of his administration to deliver qualitative education to the future generation.

The state helmsman then charged them to live up to the expected billings by being dedicated and alive to their responsibilities, stressing that their students as well as the entire state are expecting so much from them.

Speaker of the State House Of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Timothy Owoeye said the governor has truly lived up to his campaign promises by recruiting the teachers to help fill the teaching gap that has been created in the teaching service over the years.

The Speaker who was represented at the occasion by the Chairman, House Committee On Education, Hon. Babatunde Ibirogba said students across the state are in for a good time as they now have qualified teachers to nurture them up into responsible individuals that will be ready to face the world.

In a goodwill message, the Head of Service, Dr Olowogboyega Oyebade said the addition of the new 1,000 teachers to the teaching service in the state is a huge step forward in the quest to reposition the state’s education sector.

Earlier in his welcome address, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Education, Hon. Jamiu Olawumi, explained that despite the paucity of funds, the hovernor has demonstrated an uncommon zeal to move the state forward.
