A youth group under the aegis of Students and Youths leaders in Kwara state has condemned the act of violence that marred the All Progressives Congress (APC) stakeholders meeting held recently in Ilorin.
The spokesperson of the group who also doubles as Universal Treasurer, Comrade Ishola Ayinla expressed dissatisfaction while addressing journalists at the NUJ, Press Centre, Ilorin, Kwara state capital on Tuesday.
“We are saddened by the height of embarrassment brought on the state by some stakeholders of APC due to their on-going membership registration exercise”
“The beauty of democracy is the ability to resolve differences without breaking down of law and orders.
“The glare demonstration of violence within the government house is an aberration that should not be condoned by all and sundry.
“No individual should see him or herself above the institution of governance,” he said.
According to him, the state has enjoyed good measure of peace and unprecedented development across the Local Government Areas under Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq administration.
He said further that, “We never anticipated that some stakeholders within the ruling party would be acting in manners detrimental to the fortunes of their party.
“We sincerely commend Governor AbdulRazaq for his fatherly disposition towards the ensued crisis in the face of obvious provocation. The peaceful disposition of the Executive Governor should not be taken for granted.”
The group, however, appealed to any aggrieved members of the party to take legal action instead of disturbing public peace.
“Our forum has resolved not to fold our hands and allow anyone irrespective of status to jeopardize the development efforts of Governor AbdulRazaq, particularly in the youths and educational sectors”
The group also disclosed that it would monitor the entire APC registration exercise towards ensuring that it is peacefully conducted within the state.
