President Muhammadu Buhari has inaugurated Supreme Court Justice Walter Onnoghen as the new acting Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN).
The ceremony was conducted on Thursday, at the Council Chamber of the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
Mr. Onnoghen replaces CJN Mahmud Mohammed whose tenure ended at midnight on Wednesday having clocked the mandatory 70 years of age to step aside.
Onnogen is the most senior Justice of Supreme Court. His appointment is waiting for confirmation by the Senate.
