Speaker, Kwara State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Dr. Ali Ahmad, has congratulated the management and players of Abubakar Bukola Saraki Football Club for their efforts and doggedness in ensuring that the team gain promotion back to the Nigerian Professional Football League.
Ahmad, in a congratulatory message issued by his Special Assistant on Media, Shuaib Abdulkadir, on Thursday further felicitated with ABS FC for defeating Gateway FC 4-1 in their rescheduled final match, which automatically returns them to the nation’s topflight league.
The Speaker said the players had further demonstrated the can-do-spirit of Kwarans despite several antics employed by the visiting team to frustrate them to lose the promotional ticket.
He noted that since sports, particularly football has been a binding force that made people to relate very well regardless of their differences, Kwara State deserved to be represented in the elite league.
Ahmad enjoined the team not to rest on the victory achieved but to strive next season at the NPFL to prove that their promotion was well-deserved.
The Speaker, however, felicitated with the team’s founder, Senate President Bukola Saraki, for his foresight and vision to make ABS FC a model for other private-sponsored football clubs in the country.
Ahmad also congratulated the team’s Chairman, Mr. Seni Saraki, for his efforts at turning the football team around and gaining promotion back to the premier league.
He also encouraged the management and players of Kwara United Football Club to do everything humanly possible next season to ensure the team also follow ABS FC back to the nation’s premier league.
