A renowned political scientist, Dr. Emmanuel Olugbade Ojo, has been elevated to the academic position of Associate Professor of the University of Ilorin, Kwara State following the approval of the Governing Council of the institution.
This was contained in the letter of offer of appointment issued on March 10, 2016 by the Registrar and Secretary to the Council of the institution, E.D. Obafemi, with reference no: UIL/SSE/PF/2566 a copy of which was made available to WESTERN POST.
Dr. Ojo, until his recent elevation, was a senior lecturer in the Department of Political Science, University of Ilorin, Kwara State.
Ojo, who was formally a two-term Head of Department of Political Science of the institution, obtained his Bachelor and Masters degrees in Political Science from the University of Ibadan in 1990 and 1992 respectively, capping it with a Doctor of Philosophy degree from the same university in 2002.
He joined the services of the University of Ilorin (Unilorin) in 1995 as an Assistant Lecturer and was elevated to the position of Senior Lecturer on October 1st, 2003.
Dr. Ojo, whose research interests include Federalism and Comparative Politics, Democratisation and Politics and the Mass Media, among others has over 70 articles in both local and international journals and chapter contributions to his credit.
Interestingly, the don is the immediate-past Special Adviser to the Oyo State Governor Abiola Ajimobi on Political Matters in his first term administration.
The don, who has attended both local and foreign conferences, is a member of several learned/professional bodies.
The offer of appointment, which was backdated, according to the letter, had since taken effect from October 1, 2014.
