A political realignment of sort may have begun between Ondo State Governor Olusegun Mimiko and All Progressives Congress governorship candidate in the state, Mr. Oluwarotimi Akeredolu over the November 26 governorship poll as the duo met at Akure Airport on Tuesday.
Also at the meeting was Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo State.
Mimiko and Mr. Eyitayo Jegede, the candidate of Senator Ahmed Makarfi faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state are at present in court battling the replacement of Jegede’s name with that of Chief Jimoh Ibrahim as the party’s candidate. Ibrahim is of the Senator Ali Modu Sheriff’s faction of PDP.
Only last Thursday, the Court of Appeal in Abuja granted Jegede leave to appeal against the judgement of Justice Okon Abang of an Abuja Federal High Court, which ordered INEC to remove his name from the list of candidates for the election.
The question has been if Jegede, Mimiko’s candidate, is out of the picture, who will Mimiko support between Akeredolu and Olusola Oke, now Alliance for Democracy governorship candidate for the election?
