The Benin Traditional Council has put to rest speculation about the disposition of the Oba of Benin, Omo N’oba N’Edo Uku Akpolokpolo Oba Erediauwa and said the the monarch is actually, “indisposed”.
Secretary to the council, Mr Frank Irabor in a four paragraph statement which he signed with Ref. BTC./A66/VOL. VI/T1/76 dated WFTH March 2015, said that in Palace parlance, the proper information due the general public on the disposition of the Oba is, ‘Uhunmwun ve Ekpen vb Ato’, meaning, “the Leopard is ill in the Savannah bush”.
Irabor also said that while palace chiefs and functionaries are to continue in their routine traditional duties at the Palace, public engagements are therefore suspended until further notice.
Such engagements he said also include courtesy visits, hearing of compliant from individuals, families and communities and in particular complaints over inheritance.
