In recognition of its contribution to the Nigerian economy, the Dangote Cement Plc has won the most Outstanding Company of the year award.The Abuja Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ACCI) which announced the honour said the Cement Company has distinguished itself above others through its support for the development of the Nigerian economy.President of the ACCI, Mr. Tony Ejinkeonye, said the award was in recognition of the company’s sustained contribution to the growth of the economy.The Regional Director, North Central, Dangote Cement Plc Dolapo Alli, Abuja Representative of the Dangote Group Hashem Ahmed, Manager Dangote Cement Plc Mustafa Yelwa and Media Relations Specialist Jibrin Abubakar received the award on behalf of the company.Speaking, Mr. Hashem Ahmed expressed appreciation for the award and said it would further spur the Group to sustain its support for, not only the country’s economy, but Africa as a whole.He said already thousands of jobs are being created on the continent.Speaking to newsmen on the sideline of the award, the Regional Director, Mr Dolapo Alli said Dangote Cement has production and operations in some African countries.
According to him, in Nigeria the cement company has three cement plants with a combined installed capacity of 29.25 million MT per annum.
“The Obajana Cement Plant in Kogi state is the largest cement plant in the world with a current capacity of 13.25 million MT. The Ibese cement plant in Ogun State has combined installed capacity of 12 million MT while the Gboko plant has installed capacity of 4 million MT,” he said.Dangote Sponsors Kaduna Trade FairIn another development, The Kaduna Chamber of Commerce Industry Mines and Agriculture (KADCCIMA) has hailed the Dangote Group for the sustainable of the nation’s economy through continuous job creation.
Dangote Group is one of the major sponsors of the forthcoming Kaduna International Trade Fair.
The Trade Fair which opens between Friday February 26 and March 6, 2016 has as its theme: Promoting solid Mineral sector for sustainable economic development in Nigeria.
The Director General of the Kaduna Chamber of Commerce Industry Mines and Agriculture (KADCCIMA) Mr. Usman Saulawa said President Muhammadu Buhari is expected to officially open the 37th Trade Fair on Saturday Feb. 27th.
He commended the Dangote Group for the sponsorship, adding that the relationship between the two partners is helping businesses in Nigeria and beyond.
In its letter of invitation to the Dangote Group, KADCCIMA described the fair as Africa’s most famous fair and assured that it would help in deepening business relations in Africa.
The letter said it would afford the Dangote Group opportunity to meet business groups and individuals to further its business interest.
Chief Corporate Communications Officer of the Group, Mr. Anthony Chiejina, said the trade fair will offer the Dangote Group an opportunity to display its numerous innovative products which include the recently introduced Dan-Q Seasoning, sachet sugar, salt, tomato paste and noodles, among others.
The statement urged participants to patronize the Dangote Pavilion at the Trade Fair.
