The immediate past Speaker Kogi State House of Assembly, Right Honorable Umar Ahmed Imam has drummed support for the new speaker, Honourable Mathew Kolawole to ensure peace and stability of the legislative house.
He therefore called on members in the house to support the new speaker of the Assembly Prince Mathew Kolawole.
Imam who made this call during the house plenary, stated the stability of the House is very imperative for development of Kogi State.
The former speaker , Umar Ahmed Imam had on August 3rd tendered his resignation letter before members following the attack On the Assembly by unidentified suspected hoodlums.
Imam also apprecited the entire house for their show of love and confidence repose in him during his leadership, Imam urged the entire lawmakers to extend same to the new leadership.
“My stay as the Speaker of the Kogi State House of Assembly for one year, a week and a day cannot be complete without saying thank you to all the entire Lawmakers, staffs and Assembly press Corp who I’m various way cooperated with my leadership for me to succeed.
“The support that you have showed me, should be move to the new leadership. We are all stakeholders, so all hands must be on deck to move the Assembly forward.”
He assured the new leadership of his support and wealth of experience in the discharge of their legislative business.
“Mr speaker, you are having two former speaker on the floor, a former Deputy Speaker and highly respected members who are willing to see you succeed in this hallow chamber.
Responding, the Speaker Mathew Kolawole thanked his predecessor for the good work he left behind, pointing that he can’t succeed without their support and wealth of experience.
