Ogun Bans Auxiliary Nurses from Running Health Facilities

The Ogun State Government has placed a ban on auxiliary nurses from running health facilities across the state.
The state’s Commissioner for Health, Dr. Babatundee Ipaye, who made this known during a monitoring exercise to monitor the compliance level of registration/re-validation of private health facilities in Abeokuta South and Odeda Local Government Area of the state.
He said the step was made necessary to guide against quackery and unprofessionalism in the state health sector, adding that the present administration led by Senator Ibikunle Amosun would no longer condole quackery and or give room for quacks to continue to risk the life of the unsuspecting citizens of the state.
Ipaye said 58 private health facilities had been shut so far, saying eight were closed in Abeokuta South and Odeda Local Government in addition to the 58 earlier shut for not meeting up with the deadline issued by the State Ministry of Health since January, 2016.
The facilities shut are Soffy’s Mesical Center, Conner Stone Hospital, Omobalogun Clinic, Nosirullah Medical Clinic and Maternity Home, Olubusola Maternity Home, Ridiom Clinic and Maternity Home and Eriayo Maternity Home.
