All those hiding under either Islamic or Christian religion to massacre innocent citizens should not be regarded as adherents of any religion, but criminals as neither the Holy Quran nor the Bible preaches violence.
Prof. Sabit Olagoke, founder of Shafaudeen-In-Islam Worldwide, made the remark in Ibadan, during the commissioning of the Caterpillar Gbene- Monatan branch of the mosque in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.
According to him, “Neither Islamic nor Christian religion supports shedding the blood of innocent people. Enough is enough. All religious leaders should aggressively preach against violence. It is against the injunctions of the Holy books.”
“The only change needed is to have soul purification from evil thoughts and body preservation from crimes and sins or general attitudinal in order to secure the favour of God into prosperous change that is sustainable and achievable only through spiritual and just worship.”
The cleric further added: “Religion is not designed to be a killing machine but to reform adherents and transform the community. Government and religious leaders need to tame religion not to destroy the nation. Stop Kaduna killings in the name of religion now!.”
Prof. Olagoke, however, stressed that the nation needed ministers of God that must be able to operate in line with the scriptures for the houses of God; mosques, churches and others, to operate with such high efficiency and high productivity that would manifest through religious products and adherents actively serving through the process for a better social construct, adding that, “let us use our houses of God wisely with fear of God.
He pointed out that it was embarrassing to have numerous houses of God, countless adherents, with such atmosphere through religious activity and millions of religious leaders, Pastors and Imams, in a system without a corresponding state of sanity, noting that, “it is equally sad to have religious adherents as thieves, armed robbers, prostitutes, kleptomaniacs, gamblers, drunkards, witches and wizards, and are corrupt officials in government, in the ministries, departments and agencies.”
The pioneer leader of the newly dedicated mosque, Terkiyat Yusuf Olayiwola, earlier in his address, said that Quran was the constitution, hadith and the guideline for all muslims to be followed, adding that members of Shafaudeen have been nurtured to distance themselves from any unholy act.
He commended Prof. Olagoke for his exemplary leadership style, while he showered praises on Islamic leaders like Chief Tijani who sold the land to them for building the mosque at a give-away price.
Terkiyat Olayiwola also expressed appreciation to Alhaja Bolarinwa, Alhaja Yaya Adeleke, late Pa. Gbadamosi and Terikiya Adedayo Ibrahim, for their various roles towards the successful completion of the ultra modern mosque, adding that they would all be rewarded by Allah.
