A House of Representatives member representing Akoko South East/Akoko South West, area, Ondo State, Ade Adeogun has empowered 120 of his constituents with items worth millions of naira in their respective professions.
Adeogun gave 60 tailors sewing machines, 25 barbers were empowered with barbing kits and generating sets. A total of 10 people were given generators to boost their businesses, and selected photographers were given cameras with studio equipment.
Other items distributed were six photocopy machines, keyboards mixers, electric drum sets, two automated block making machines, and industrial machines.
The lawmaker said the gesture was in fulfillment of his campaign promises made to the people of the areas he is representing at the National Assembly.
He urged the beneficiaries to make judicious use of the materials and pleaded with those who are yet to benefit from the empowerment scheme to be patient.
While speaking with journalists, one of the beneficiaries, Mr. Aboyewa, a photographer popularly known as tompology said: “I have been following and working with politicians but none have assisted my business this way.
“When he(Hon. Adeogun) came as Mr. Adeogun two years ago and promised to liberate us. I thought he was just joking and making promises for the sake of election, but now he has proven to be true to his words.
“This is the third employment session in just one year of his tenure. The camera I got is a unique one. It will surely raise the standard and profit of my business. I also got other studio kits to help uplift my picture quality.
“My word of advice for others is for them to all come together and team up to support Ade Adeogun and his Politics, so he can add greater values to more people.”
Another beneficiary, Mrs. Ajisafe Aina said, “I can only pray that God continues to lift him (Adeogun) up. Everything of his plans shall succeed in Jesus name. The sewing machine I got will surely help me to set up a good shop and make more profit in my tailoring business.”
Many of the beneficiaries described Adeogun as a promise keeper. They promised to support him in all his political moves.
