Final Results: Obaseki-307,955 votes

                     Ize-Iyamu-223,619 votes

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP), Godwin Obaseki, winner of the governorship election in Edo State.

INEC’s Returning Officer, Prof. Akpofure Rim-Rukeh, announced the total results of the election on Sunday afternoon.

He said the All Progressive Congress (APC) polled 223,619 votes, while PDP got 307,955 votes.

Incumbent Governor Obaseki of PDP ran against APC standard-bearer Osagie Ize-Iyamu and 13 others in a repeat of the 2016 election after a swap of political parties.

Obaseki was elected on APC’s platform in 2016 but later defected to the PDP after being denied the ticket, owing to intra-party squabbles.
