Lagos LG Elections Experience Low Turnout in Ikeja, Oshodi, Ifako-Ijaiye, Ejigbo

As the electorate filed out to elect their Local Government Chairmen and Councillors across Lagos State today, there was low turnout in some areas like Oshodi, Ifako-Ijaye, Ejigbo, Ikotun-Igando, Ikeja and its environment.

In Ilamose ward in Ejigbo LCDA, the voters were scanty as the voting materials and personnel arrived around 9 am.

In Ward D2 in Oshodi/Isolo Local Government, voting materials arrived as and when due as voters peacefully queued to be accredited and cast their vote.

Speaking with newsmen after voting, the lawmaker representing Oshodi/Isolo Constituency 1 at the Lagos State House of Assembly, Hon. Olusola Sokunle, said the rain might have been the factor that caused the low turnout of voters, stressing that the electorate were properly informed of the election in the area.

“You can see that Oshodi is peaceful. The voters here comport themselves without any security personnel directing. The election in Oshodi is always peaceful,” said Sokunle

Also speaking, the APC Chairmanship candidate in Oshodi/Isolo, Hon. Bolaji Ariyoh, expressed confidence in the voting process, saying that it never relied on his first performance alone but also campaigned to electorate after giving the party ticket.

In Ifako-Ijaiye, there was serious low turnout in Ward E as voting materials got to polling units.

In Agege LGA, the Speaker of the Lagos House of Assembly, Rt ( Hon) Mudashiru Obasa, as at 2 pm was yet to vote as voting materials were yet to arrive.
